Data Disclaimer
The information provided on the New Mexico Capital Dashboard is for informational purposes only. While the State of New Mexico has made every reasonable effort to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the data, users should be aware of the following limitations:
Funding Information
Funding amounts shown on the dashboard reflect only capital outlay funds awarded or obligated through capital outlay bills. These amounts may not represent the full funding for a project, which may also include local, other state, federal, or additional funding sources.
In general, the dashboard reflects capital outlay funding managed by executive departments or agencies of the State of New Mexico. Project updates are provided by the entity receiving the capital appropriation or grant agreement and are the sole responsibility of those entities.
Definitions3>
Appropriation/Project: An appropriation is the formal legal authorization to spend public funds, while a project is a specific undertaking or activity for which that funding may be used. An appropriation is the means of providing budget authority, and a project is one of the ends for which that authority is granted.
Project: A project is a specific capital undertaking, improvement, acquisition, or activity supported in whole or in part by a capital outlay appropriation. A project may encompass planning, design, construction, renovation, equipment purchase, or other capital-related work and may be funded through one or more appropriations and funding sources over time.
SHARE/CAPS: A SHARE expenditure is one that has been submitted by an entity and reimbursed by the state. A Capital Projects System (CAPS) expenditure is an expenditure in the reporting system that has been identified by an entity but may not have been submitted for reimbursement. Expenditure data may come from CAPS and/or SHARE.
Dynamic Nature of Data
Project details—including project title, project summary, project status, funding amounts, and other related information—are subject to change as updates are submitted by capital funding recipients in New Mexico. These changes may result from new or amended capital grant agreements, revised project scope and timelines, or adjustments to the total amount of funding expended or committed as projects progress.
Data Integrity
Although every effort is made to maintain data integrity, technical errors, system updates, or other issues may occur. As a result, users may encounter discrepancies while using the dashboard. Data displayed on the dashboard is sourced from multiple systems, including data entered by grant recipients into the Capital Projects System (CAPS), the bond tracking system, and the State of New Mexico's accounting system (SHARE).
